Corner Kids Performing Arts

All kids have opportunities through drama, music, dance and other expressive arts to explore personal development, friendship, leadership and faith.

This group doesn’t highlight individuals’ talents, but instead focuses on working together as a collective to create fun and interactive performances. When mistakes are made the group must improvise to support each other and keep the intended meaning of the story on track. This is a great life skill to learn.

Kids can be involved in skits/events throughout the year and a full Musical Christmas Production, including performances at local primary schools.

When: Tuesdays 3.45pm – 5.30pm (during school term)

Bring: A piece of fruit to share

Cost: $8 per session OR $70 per term (payable by week 3).
Sponsorship may be available for low income families.

Age: 7 + years

Behaviour code is outlined during first session.
All leaders have Uniting Church Police Clearances.

For more information, please contact Carolyn on 0439 871 465 or performingarts@thecorner.org.au

We follow a program each term where a variety of crafts are presented. Each member has the choice of following the program, bringing their own craft, or playing cards or scrabble. We like to have suggestions for craft activities from our members and encourage them to share their skills with the group.

Crafts offered include card making, crochet, knitting, patchwork, beading, and toy making.

We provide a crèche at a nominal fee (please let us know if you are interested in this service).

Jan Jones and Anna Kring lead the group.

Water Colour Painting Classes

Times: 10.00am – 12.00am & 1.00pm – 3.00pm

Between the morning and afternoon classes we now have a good number of students (both are friendly, supportive groups). The morning class only began a couple of years ago but the students are producing very good work. Most students in the afternoon class have been attending for many years with excellent art work achieved.

Each year an Art Display of all students work is hung creating a real sense of achievement and pride. Several pieces have been sold at each exhibition and the community also enjoys viewing their work.

Community Club @ The Corner

When: 7.30pm for 7.45pm start Tuesday (second of the month)

The Community Club @ The Corner was formerly known as the Greenfield Road Community Club (a sponsored outreach of the Seacombe Uniting Church).

The club was founded in 1996, when some Seacombe members realised, prayerfully, that a mixed social group was needed at the church. This dedicated group worked hard in developing a concept, which would include the wider community in the area, while still observing principles through example. The Club is thankful for their vision, because we have continued to enjoy the meetings, each other’s company and our innovative suppers. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

Right from the outset, we have been registered with the Marion Council as a meeting place for people looking to mix with others in their area. It has always been the aim that the committee deals with the day-to-day business, BUT are always very open to suggestions — which do thankfully keep coming. If a donation to a cause is appropriate, we give as generously as we can, from our meeting by meeting gold coin donations.

Meetings are open to ourselves, friends and neighbours without obligation to attend regularly.
