Maundy Thursday
Jesus Shares a Final Meal

Jesus and his followers gathered to share the Passover meal.

As they were eating, Jesus said to them “One of you will betray me. As it says in the Scriptures I will die.”

His followers were shocked; several of them asking if they would be the one to betray Jesus.

As they continued eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it. He then broke it and passed the pieces to his followers saying “Take this and eat, it is my body.”

He then took a cup of wine and thanked God for it. He passed it to his followers saying, “Drink this, it is my blood, which confirms the agreement between God and the people.”

Then they sang together and went out to the Mount of Olives.

Based on Matthew 26:17-30

Read.

On Maundy Thursday we sense that Jesus’ followers were confused by his words and actions. There are many stories when Jesus’ followers didn’t quite understand what was going on and what Jesus was trying to tell them. Even through their confusion, they still continued to follow and trust Jesus. Jesus also continued to guide them, lead them, teach them and share his final moments with them.

Think About.

There are times in our lives and our faith when we feel confused and unsure about what is going to happen. Even if we can’t see God, God is with us through all these moments. Think about a time you felt confused and unsure. Look back and think about how God was working in and around you during this time.

Prayer.

God, even when we are feeling confused or unsure, we know you are always with us. We ask for your guidance and clarity in these moments. Amen.
