Palm Sunday
Jesus Enters Jerusalem
Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey accompanied by his followers.
In the city, a crowd shouted their praises to Jesus and to God. They spread their clothes and palm leaves on the ground in front of him to celebrate his arrival.
Bystanders asked “Who is this man on the donkey?”. Others replied “It is Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee”.
Based on Matthew 21:1-11

On the first day of Holy Week, we start with joy. There is celebration and excitement as Jesus enters Jerusalem, but we know this joy doesn’t last. Across the next week we will see and experience a microcosm of all of life’s ups and downs. There are moments of anger, awareness, shock, confusion, grief, waiting and finally joy again on Easter Sunday. Across all moments in Holy Week, God is present.
Think About.
Think about how you can find joy in God’s presence this week. Consider a walk in nature, time in prayer, doing something creative or joining worship services for Easter.
Prayer.
God, thank you for being ever present in our lives and beside us through all of life’s ups and downs. Amen.
